Financial Accountant

About the role:
The Financial Accountant role will focus on financial general ledger oversight. Responsibilities include the co-ordination and working in a team environment to produce accurate and timely financial information. Monthly tasks and duties including managing and maintaining assigned end of month task, balance sheet recs and maintenance of specific tools and databases utilised by the finance team. Confidentiality and trust are essential attributes as this role has access to confidential financial data.
Job tasks and responsibilities:

• Review and approval of journals to be posted in system in accordance with corporate standards
• Assist with coordination of month end closing process to ensure smooth and timely close
• Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with Corporate best practice guidelines
• Support audit processes i.e. SOX and annual external audit
• Maintenance of existing in-house finance tools and finance databases
• Assist with treasury functions and corporate reporting
• Provide support and guidance to transactions team (AP,AR)
• Assist Finance Team with ad hoc requests i.e. FBT, GST, ALF, feasibility studies

About you:

• At least 3 years’ experience in a financial account type role or looking for first move from practice
• Strong technical accounting and internal controls knowledge i.e. IFRS, US GAAP, SOX
• Well-developed computer skills - particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Understanding of VBA/Macros highly desirable
• Understanding of the Rail industry and manufacturing is beneficial but not essential
• ERP system knowledge - Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience would be an advantage
• Reporting packages - TM1 /Cognos and OneStream knowledge but not essential.
